MTC Logistics announced that it has earned a certification through the British Retail Consortium (BRC) under the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) for its Port of Wilmington DE distribution center.
Ernie Ferguson, vice-president of sales for MTC Logistics, said, “The BRC certification is validation of our long-term commitment to providing the highest quality food safety standards through the supply chain solutions we offer. A growing number of retail and food service companies in North America require this independent certification. This is our second distribution center certification this year, and we intend to have all of our distribution centers certified by the end of the year.”
Originally introduced in 2006, the Global Standard for Storage and Distribution provides the essential certification link between the range of BRC manufacturing standards and the end user, the retailer, and the foodservice company. BRC has been recognized internationally as the leader in food safety certification. As a member of the GFSI, the BRC is committed to continuous improvement of its food safety standard and requires the same continuous improvement from the distribution centers it certifies.
Founded in 1928, MTC Logistics owns and operates three refrigerated distribution centers in Maryland and Delaware within close proximity to the Ports of Baltimore, Wilmington, and Philadelphia.
