New trailers are coming off production now for XTRA Lease, the provider of semitrailer rentals and leases, which has ordered approximately 6,000 new trailers for 2016.

The company is adding a mix of reefers, dry vans, liftgated vans, flatbeds, and chassis. New trailers will arrive at each of the company’s 50-plus rental locations throughout the year.

XTRA Lease’s 2016 purchase includes a mix of:

•53- and 48-foot reefers

•53-, 48-, and 57-ft dry vans

•53-, 48-, and 28-ft liftgated vans

•53-ft auto drop vans

•53-ft spread-axle straight frame and single-drop flatbeds

•48-ft tandem slider, spread-axle, and single-drop flatbeds

•20/40-ft tridem chassis and 20-ft tridem extendable chassis.

All 53- and 57-ft reefers and vans will receive fuel-saving aerodynamic side skirts, low-rolling resistance tires, and trailer tracking units to help fleets improve utilization and costs.

XTRA Lease has invested heavily in new trailer orders in recent years, adding more than 40,000 trailers equipped with aerodynamic side skirts and low rolling resistance tires. Nearly 70% of its over-the-road fleet is manufactured in 2012 and later, making it possible for fleets of all sizes to access newer, low-maintenance trailers.

Based in St Louis MO and owned by Berkshire Hathaway, XTRA Lease has more than 50 locations. It offers a fleet of about 80,000 trailers, including reefers, dry vans, flatbeds, local cartage vans, storage trailers, and specialty equipment.
