Klinge Corp has released a new lower-cost Model CBU-30 blast freezer container with production of the unit shifting from Kjellerup, Denmark to Klinge headquarters in York PA. This action follows Klinge’s recent acquisition of Norfrig Equipment, a supplier of ultra-low-temperature refrigeration and thawing systems.
By moving production to its headquarters, Klinge can utilize its 31,000-square-meter production facility situated on 26 acres. The company’s production flow allows for annual production capacity of several thousand highly specialized transport refrigeration units, freezer units, and generator sets.
The CBU-30 quickly freezes cargo to –60° C (–76° F), and the blast freezer features an improved defrost system. The improvement consists of a more efficient, thorough drain pan heating system that uses more direct hot gas heating. The condensing section has also been redesigned with high-efficiency riffled condenser coils on the R-23 system.
The CBU-30’s large high-capacity centrifugal evaporator fan draws air through the load to ensure even temperatures throughout the load. Without this special design, airflow would be reduced and the blast freezing process would take considerably longer.
Just over a year after its purchase of Norfrig, Klinge has also unveiled a new marinized, ruggedized Nose-Mount Freezer (NMF)-371. The previous model offered by Norfrig/Klinge was largely used in stationary locations and not necessarily intended for marine transport.
Jason Flynn, Klinge sales manager, said, “Klinge Corp’s aim with its new NMF-371 unit is to provide an improved design tailored to ocean shipment of ultra-low temperature cargo, while also removing the need for an internal evaporator section used in our previous models—thereby providing maximum usable cargo space.”
Founded in 1984 as a spin-off of the Transport Refrigeration Equipment department of York International, Klinge has been producing refrigeration equipment at its manufacturing facilities and headquarters in York for 27 years.
